The Background
Keys Hotels, a brand of Berggruen Hotels Pvt. Ltd. rolled out its first owned hotel at Trivandrum in September 2009. Berggruen Hotels is a young hotel company founded in 2006 by Sanjay Sethi and his team of hotel professionals. The business is completely funded by Berggruen Holdings out of New York. The company is setting up a leading chain of mid-market hotels, resorts and service apartments across India under its brand Keys Hotels, Resorts and Apartments.
The focus is on providing value-for-money accommodation for the young mid-segment traveler. All properties will follow the Keys brand personality of being stylish, cheerful, cutting-edge and international. Keys Resorts are, however, more premium.

Current Operations
The Keys brand currently operates its own hotels in Trivandrum, Ludhiana and Bengaluru besides operating hotels for owner partners in Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad. The currently operational room count is 937. At present the company has 800 employees and the group turnover in 2011-12 from all owned and managed hotels is Rs. 82 crores. In the next five years this figure is expected to be in excess of Rs 325 crores with about 40 hotels, both owned and managed.

Year 2015-2016
By the year 2015-2016, the company expects a turnover of Rs. 215 crores through its 15 owned assets, in addition to the 15 managed hotels it operates, with total employee strength of 2000 and a total room count of 2500.

Growth Strategy
In addition to the development of its own 15 assets, Berggruen Hotels has embarked on an asset-light model of managing hotels in the 3- and 4-star category for owners across India. We expect to leverage our strong domain knowledge, communication channels, reservation systems and our employee talent pool to create and develop value for owners who entrust their hotels to our able hands. The growing visibility of the Keys brand and the network created by our own hotels will give confidence to owners who are looking for a committed hotel management company to optimize returns on their investments.

Keys Products
Keys offers a young holistic hotel/resorts product that has been designed after carefully assessing the needs of the travelers of today and tomorrow. Our design, facilities and service philosophy have emerged from the inputs received through constant interaction with 3- and 4-star hotel users. We believe that guests do not want to be restricted by rules such as limited time of operations and services and have created facilities like 24x7 access to the gymnasium and business center. We also provide free high-speed Wi-Fi access, laptop-size safes in all our rooms, tea/coffee maker, iron and ironing boards and LCD televisions. Our F&B offering includes an all-meal restaurant, a fun sporty bar, room service and conference facilities. At Keys Resorts, additional F&B outlets increase dining options for our guests.
At Keys Hotels, you are likely to be greeted by, "Hi, welcome to Keys!" as against the traditional, "Good morning Sir".

Our Channels Of Reach
Over the last three years we have set up efficient communication channels for guests to contact us as well as for us to reach out to our guests. Our website has interfaces with Resnet and Travel Tripper to facilitate easy booking. We operate sales offices in six cities and are represented by our GSAs in 22 cities in India. In addition, we have GSAs in Europe, US, Dubai and Singapore.
We are listed on priority by most online travel agents including Makemytrip, Travelocity, Travelguru and others. Our field sales force represents us extensively across the country and through them we have developed relationships with large and small corporate houses and travel agents.
